The Speaking Voice

Disorders of the speaking voice is indicated by frequent hoarseness, and/or a rough, breathy or husky voice. The speaker has difficulty in speaking loudly, and tends to force the voice. There is frequently a feeling of breathlessness. The vocal cords do not respond well, the voice is less powerful and tires easily. Susceptibility to infection increases. Temporary loss of voice or voice control can occur even when there is no infection.

Therapy for the speaking voice is about regenerating the voice and getting rid of the organic and functional causes of vocal impediments and illnesses.
